What: A 30 day commitment to do Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred workout

When: Oct. 21-Nov. 19

What you need to participate:

  • the desire to create change in your life
  • the determination to stick with it for 30 days
  • the heart to encourage others involved in the challenge

Shopping list:

Why I Think This Challenge Is For You:

  • Will be fun doing it as a group – we can motivate one another!
  • There are 3 levels to choose from – I say we ALL can do level 1!
  • The actual routine is 20 MINUTES! (allow 30 with warm-up/cool-down)
  • Only failure will be to NOT DO IT: Even if you can do 1/4 to 1/2 of each exercise, we will consider it success! If routine is difficult where you are currently at, a good goal may be to be able to do full 20 minutes on day 30. πŸ™‚

  • Sign up to join in by adding comment to this post
  • Sign up for the Facebook Fan Page (if not currently a member) – will discuss more at the fan page.
  • Gather the items you need from the shopping list above
  • Mark your calendar for start date of Oct. 21

  28. I’m in! I’m planning on strickly tracking calories and doing the video daily during the 30 days.

    One problem, I travel a lot for work and when I fly, I can’t take my small 3 lb weights…any suggestions?

  29. Yay J – I’m so glad you’re doing this with me! πŸ™‚ Can’t take them with you because of airline restriction or too heavy? If the factor is heaviness…maybe can do 1 lbs-ers while you’re away? Trying to think of things you could substitute…don’t suppose you’d have a couple cans of soup with you? lol Anything you could think of to hold in your hand while you’re there….other than that, maybe substitute those exercises with ones that use your own body weight – push-ups for example. (just doing the motions will be better than nothing as well) Also, have you seen these? http://www.aquabells.com – not exactly cheap, but if you would use them a lot may be a good investment. I’m excited!

  30. I’m going to join you! I bought 30 DS last spring, did it for about two weeks and then stopped. Even in those two weeks I noticed myself getting stronger. I agree with Angi – focussing on 30 days instead of ALL the weight I want to lose will be helpful.

  34. I’m in! I like to swim at the gym, but I can’t get there every day. So my commitment is to swim when I can, and exercise at least 15 minutes on the days I can’t get to the gym. It might be walking, riding my stationary bike, or hula hooping (I just recently learned how).

  36. I am in on the challenge, but I will have to modify. My challenge will be 30 days of training for the jingle bell run and weight training as well. I have shred, so i can do that on off days from running. i SUCK at self motiviation, so i have to hit the gym to get a good work out in! :)! I am excited and a bit nervous I must add!

    I just found you on Twitter yesterday. I have the 30 day Shred, and I think I tried it once and got halfway through it and then decided I’d had enough. My goal is to eventually lose between 120-140 pounds. (Yikes! Typing that makes me feel like it’s going to take forever.) I don’t do much exercise at all, but I’m fit enough that walking two miles a day isn’t torture. (Not that I’ve been doing much of that, but I know I can.) I just saw your tweet that said you need three more people. Perhaps this is the motivation that I need to kick myself in the rear and get to working out. Count me in.

  45. I have a strength training class tomorrow that could sub (will probably be what I do Monday and Wed instead of the video) Thursday and Friday I’ll need to come up with something else. Maybe the deck of cards work out I’ve seen (different moves for different suits and the # on the card is how many you do)

  48. Hi Vicky, you can certainly do whatever works for you, but the idea that I had was to do something (30 day shred) for 30 days straight as a group. If you are joining us now, please just jump right in! πŸ˜‰ We’re currently at Day 9 but you can just finish with us…extend beyond that for yourself or whatever you like. If you want to make it your Day 1 and post your comments at Day 1 that is cool too! Hope to hear from you again soon! The challenge has been great so far and the more the merrier I say! πŸ˜‰
